Inspired by a Reddit post I figured I should take a crack at writing no less than 12 games in 2011. Luckily, the OP’s post had more than 12 games listed so I had the option of picking my own choices.

I tried to balance the genres and have 12 titles that each of them will help me learn a new thing.

  1. Hangman
  2. Snake
  3. Battleships
  4. Pong
  5. Asteroids
  6. Sidescroller
  7. Roguelike
  8. Racing Game
  9. Shooter
  10. Tetris
  11. Scorched Earth
  12. Minesweeper

Some games are rather easy to implement, while some will require a bit more effort than just a few days’ worth of coding. I will probably create the art myself.

I am not sure of the definitive order in which they will be completed, but I will start with Hangman for the time being and see how it goes.

The games will be oriented for mobiles and will be written in Objective C using Cocos2D. I will however try and see how will Cocos2D-x evolve and if things go well I will attempt to launch the Android versions as well.

I will try to keep detailed logs of my work and efforts and, where possible, will publish the source code as well.
